Communications Developer Zone Week in Review: Dialogic, Tesco, CafeX & More

Welcome back to the week in review, where we take a look at all the top stories making headlines in the communications developer zone this week.

This week started off with the news that the Dialogic PowerMedia XMS Release 3.2 is now generally available. Some new developments include upgrades to the server/media resource function (MRF) as well as added NFV and AWS cloud deployment capabilities. In addition, as TMC’s Maurice Nagle writes, “the new release provides support for OpenStack orchestration in addition to a package of OpenStack HEAT maps.” You can find out everything you need to know HERE.

Next up, Silver Spring Networks made the decision to move beyond electrical utility and smart city implementations. The company announced this week that it is expanding into the logistics arena and other verticals, with the purpose of making it easier to integrate with its solutions. The company is also going to be focusing more on peer-to-peer communications between IoT endpoints. TMC’s Paula Bernier has all the details HERE.

Speaking of moving to new areas, CafeX has partnered with Rakuten Communications to expand its presence in Asia, specifically Japan. Casey Houser points out that this is a winning arrangement for both companies: “The deal will have Rakuten, a fellow provider of communications services, distribute a range of CafeX products throughout Japan. The deal will give Rakuten access to all CafeX products, including its Live Assist WebRTC-based customer support software and Chime, which makes it possible for businesses to collaborate through video in browsers without having to install a plug-in.” Find out more HERE.

Finally, Tesco threw us a bit of a curveball this week by establishing itself as a legitimate player in the real time arena. For those who may be unaware, Tesco is the biggest food retail operation in the UK, and it is now using real time data analytics to improve customer experiences. The innovative company has several challenges ahead, but hopes that using real time data analytics will help it overcome any obstacles. You can find more information HERE.
